Product Review: Cover FX Mattifying Primer with Anti-Acne Treatment

By Christene Carr

I’m always happy when the weather gets cooler because it means I can wear more of my favorite makeup without the worry of my face turning into an oil slicked canvas. A change in the weather from cooler to warmer usually signals that I need to start looking for products to keep my oily acne prone skin in check. Enter the Cover FX Mattifying Primer with Anti-Acne Treatment.

Cover FX Mattifying Primer with Anti-Acne Treatment is formulated with Willowbark extract that naturally contains the leading acne fighting ingredient, salicylic acid. The lightweight gel-like primer also has Ancient African Tree Bark Extract that helps to reduce shine, make pores less visible and provide gentle exfoliation. Vitamins F, C, and E help to protect, soothe and reduce redness in the skin.

The primer goes on very well and provides a veil that immediately makes pores less visible. It works well under foundation and even makes it a bit easier to apply cream and liquid foundation (I didn’t try it with powder.) Usually when I go primer free my makeup can last quite a long time if it’s cold but only three to four hours if it’s above about 80 degrees. I used Cover FX Mattifying Primer with Anti-Acne Treatment last summer and it really helped to extend the wear of my foundation. I must admit that I wasn’t using this primer for its acne fighting properties because at the time my skin was pretty clear. I also wasn’t using it on a daily basis...which is what would be required to see changes in skin as a result of using this product.

Over all this is a solid product that I would 4.5 out of 5 stars. If you have oily acne prone skin a product such as Cover FX Mattifying primer with Anti-Acne Treatment is a must try, especially as the temperature climbs. If you have normal to combination skin, this will also help you to extend the life of your foundation.
