How did Exsens get its start?
Exsens was created by a group of women in the South of France who decided the world needed a beautiful, safe and fun sexual wellness brand that would speak to women on both a holistic and a sensual level. As the years progressed, we have added intimate hygiene and body care products to the line as well, because it is our belief that intimacy and wellness are deeply connected.
What does Exsens mean?
Exsens is the combination of two French words EXquises SENSations, (which means “exquisite sensations” in English).
Please talk to us about your commitment to body care and sexual wellness.
As I mentioned, we truly believe that intimacy and wellness are deeply connected. Self-care is about more than just getting your nails and hair done. It’s about paying attention to your body, your body’s needs, and your emotional well-being. Intimacy and sexuality can be an intrinsic part of both, and we wanted to provide clean products for women that they could use to bring all of those areas into concert.
We are strong advocates for women being informed about both their bodies and the ingredients they might be using in their body products. We try to educate and provide truthful, clear and honest information about everything we do, and the sexual wellness and body care market in general. Our blog, “Your body, your pleasure”, provides a lot of great information with this goal in mind.
What inspired the Organic Crystal Body Oils?
The idea for the line came from a desire to make a really nice, beautifully smelling body and massage oil. Unlike lotions, oils do not require synthetic preservatives, and allow for simple, pure formulas without parabens or emulsifiers. As we are located in Aix-en-Provence, we have access to an amazing variety or organic oils, extracts and perfumes and it seemed a shame to not take advantage of that! Our head of R&D is obsessed with crystals, and she floated the idea of adding crystals to every formula, matching them to accent oils and specifically designed perfumes… Needless to say, it was a great idea.
What fragrances do you offer?
There are 3 varieties and 3 very different all-natural fragrances:
- Aventurine Avocado – Light and fresh scent with ylang ylang, white flowers and sandalwood
- Tiger Eye Macadamia - A heady blend with accents of plum, pear, jasmine, hawthorn, and praline
- Amber Jojoba – Light, sweet scent of fig and sandalwood
We are very excited to introduce our subscribers to these Organic Crystal Body Oils. Subscribers will receive one of these three fragrances: Aventurine Avocado, Tiger Eye Macadamia, or Amber Jojoba. Can you please tell us about the key ingredients in each of these body oils?
Avocado Oil - The beta carotene and vitamins A, D, and E found in avocado oil help moisturize and protect skin from damaging UV rays. Avocado oil can also help increase collagen metabolism.
Macadamia Nut Oil – This oil is full of antioxidants, even rare antioxidants like squalene. Squalene can help to prevent wrinkles, age spots, and other signs of aging. Macadamia Nut oil is also anti-inflammatory which makes it great for use after shaving or waxing.
Jojoba – The jojoba plant (simmondsia chinensis) is a desert shrub whose beans contain a highly emollient lightweight odorless oil. Jojoba oil, extracted by crushing the beans, is processed to preserve its antibacterial and skin healing properties.
What do each of these stones represent?
- Aventurine is linked to the heart chakra. It is said to enhance creativity and bring tranquility to emotions and thoughts. Plus, Aventurine is considered the luckiest of all crystals!
- Tiger Eye is a protective stone said to be a barrier against negative energies. It is used to promote balance and open the third chakra (solar plexus).
- Amber is known as the crystal of love. It is said that Amber will help dispel bad moods and generate positive energy, promoting both mental and physical fertility.
What are the benefits of all of these organic oils? How can these oils be used?
For the practical soul, it’s important to know, unlike lotions, oils do not require synthetic preservatives, and allow for simple, pure formulas without parabens or emulsifiers. Oils are cleaner, better for your body and for the planet. But, if you are a fanciful sort, body oils call you back to another time, a decadent, sensual time. We anoint ourselves with oils, we caress our skin with oils, we luxuriate in oils. Oils are more fun!
Body oils are also multi-use, great for massage or use in your hair or as a bath oil, not just as a moisturizer.
What inspired you to use BPA-free packaging?
Frankly, we all need to avoid BPA as much as possible. Since we are so devoted to making clean and healthy products, using something that could potentially cause birth-defects in our packaging was simply not to be considered. Since we source our packaging in the European Union, and not Asia, we are able to make sure that our plastics are fully recyclable and truly BPA-free. This level of accountability is really important to us.
What other products from Exsens can you suggest to compliment the Organic Crystal Body Oils?
I think anyone who enjoys our body oils would also love our shimmery Glam Oil. It’s a dry, almond oil with a nice level of glittery shine for those days (and nights!) when you really want to attract attention.

Both fragrances were developed exclusively for us in the south of France by a master perfumer. Angel’s Dream has added Rhodiola Rosea for an endorphin boost and Under the Influence is a pheromone perfume!
